Introduction of Allowances for Aged Indians

Summary

Monthly Allowances for Aged Indians were introduced in 1948, as First Nations people were not eligible for old age pension. This plan stayed in effect until 1952, when elderly First Nations people were brought under the new Old Age Security Act.
