Summary
Poor weather for the year 1886 caused an almost complete failure of Indigenous crops across the southern and central portions of Saskatchewan. Those groups who had moved to a greater reliance on agricultural production, as was the demand of government at that time, experienced an acute lack of food and were almost wholly reliant on government rations to avoid starvation.
