Abstract
Lackenbauer's book looks at the history of Crown appropriation of Aboriginal land to serve the Canadian Military and post-war veterans. In Battle Grounds:The Canadian Military and Aboriginal Lands, Lackenbauer details the repeated efforts made to take away reserve and ancestral land in order to house and train Canada's militia. The Militia's interference with Aboriginal land caused environmental, social, and economic disruption that would continually impact communities thereafter.
