Ethel was interviewed in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan. She comes from a family of farmers, which provided their livelihood by farming and breeding animals. She lived in the “Maryville Metis Community." While her father was from Sakimay Reserve, her mother’s parents were from Rosthern. Ethel's father, grandfather, and uncle used to trap in Northern Saskatchewan. Her husband’s father was used to run the buffalo at Duck Lake. After the Rebellion, many Métis converged from west of Prince Albert around Mont Nebo.
