Lillian Corrigal Interview

Abstract

Lillian was interviewed in St. Louis. She recalls episodes of daily life from her past. In particular, Lillian describes her family's jobs and salaries. The most common jobs were farming, carpenter work, and road construction (with horses). Social life had a fundamental function in the community, as well as games (hockey) and dances. Lillian briefly recounts her school experience. His parents went to school in Jerond (Gerald). His father farmed and his mother looked after the house and the children. Gardening was their central source of food. Doctors and hospitals were not accessible. Maria Corrigal, mid-wife and herbalist, took care of Lillian's family health. Lillian narrates her spiritual and religious experience at mass and during Christmas time. At the end of the interview, an unspecified person claims that s/he has never fished, except for the last three years. The subject says s/he has done many activities, between Regina and Prince Albert, while s/he went to school, working for P.A. Camera Club, Nine Community Cable, Winter Games' Chamber Committee.
