Disintegration/Amalgamation of Disloyal Bands

Bands who had been disloyal during the 1885 resistance were dissolved and amalgamated with existing bands. One Arrow combined with Beardy, Muskeg Lake distributed between Ahtahkakoop and Mistawasis, Lucky Man spread among others in the Battleford and Peace Hills agencies, and Big Bear’s band was broken up, with many joining Thunderchild and others joining other bands in Battleford and Fort Pitt agencies.

Result
Bands were determined disloyal by the Canadian Government, meaning that any determination by the government was going to be from a colonial bias. The resistance to the occupation of Indigenous lands by foreign powers was met with warfare and the implementation of colonial laws. This means any determination of bands as disloyal would have been unfair, unjust, and separate from Indigenous law.
