Richard Calihoo Interview

Richard Calihoo was a well-known fiddle player, son of Jim Calihoo and Mary Louise L’Hirondelle. He grew up in an extended family of musicians, learning to play the violin. His family farmed in the Michel Reserve until he was eight. His father gave up his family status when they moved. However, Richard regained his status with the Bill C-3, in the mid-1980s. He states that the Michel (Calihoo) Band (close to the Michel Village) sold the land and ceded the rights for money offered by mining companies.
