Abstract provided by the Gabriel Dumont Institute: "Walter was interviewed on September 22, 1977 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was involved as president of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indians in 1964 and was the first president of the National Indian Brotherhood. He talks about these two organizations and about the position of Malcolm Norris in the history of the movement. He describes the revolution in the Indian Affairs Department in 1969 with the arrival of Chrétien as minister and the racism and bigotry that existed before that year.
