Abstract

Michelle Janet Isabelle Delorme was from Cochin. Her parents were David and Yvette Delorme. They first rented and then bought the land where they finally built their house. David and Yvette gave a catholic education to their children. Michelle was a devoted catholic, working with the church. Christine and Leo Delaire were her francophone maternal grandparents. Margaret Laplante, from Moosomin Reserve, and George Delorme, from Willow Bunch, were her Métis paternal grandparents. Margaret and George came from Willow Bunch and settled in Cochin. When Michelle was young, the large Métis community at Cochin was situated in between the Saulteaux Reserve and the Moosomin Reserve. The three communities often shared in sporting activities, celebrations, and supporting each other. Then, many members of the Métis community left the community. Michelle did summer jobs for the City of Saskatoon. She made beadwork necklaces, rings, and bracelets. She recounts her favourite games and sports.
